Staff with the Douglas County Public Works Department continues their annual chip seal program on County roadways this week.
Work is taking place on a nearly 8 mile stretch of Buckhorn Road in the Dixonville area.
Chip seal work is being performed Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. depending on weather and materials availability. Traffic in the work areas is being controlled by flaggers.
The chip seal program is the application of a special protective wearing surface to an existing pavement. The surface treatment combines one or more layers of asphalt with one or more layers of fine aggregate.
Chip seal maintenance does impact drive times. Motorists should expect 20-minute delays and seek alternate routes whenever possible.
