RV FIRE IN NEWTON CREEK AREA FRIDAY NIGHT

September 10, 2022 7:00 a.m.

Crews with Douglas County Fire District No. 2 dealt with an RV fire Friday night.

At about 11:40 p.m. firefighters responded to what was initially reported as a structure fire on Northeast Follett Street in the Newton Creek area, just north of Roseburg.

Battalion Chief Josh Waechter said fire crews made an aggressive fire attack while also preventing the fire from extending into a nearby home.  Police units that arrived assisted the property owner out of her home and to a safe distance next door at a neighbor’s house.

Waechter said firefighters prevented the RV fire from causing major damage to the property owner’s home. The house sustained minor damage to the paint and had one broken window. The owner’s sedan, which was parked next to the RV, was also lost to the fire. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Fire District No. 2 was assisted several other agencies.
