Additional crews from the Douglas Forest Protective Association along with help from Coos Forest Protective Association and the Oregon Department of Forestry Western Lane District, arrived Thursday to assist with mop up progress on the Martin Creek Fire, 7 miles northwest of Glendale.

That fire was reported at about 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.

DFPA Public Information Officer Rachael Pope said the fire was confirmed to be 7.75 acres, after more accurate GPS mapping. Pope said there has been no new fire growth. Crews continue to patrol and monitor the area and will work until 100 percent containment is achieved.

DFPA and the Myrtle Creek Fire Department responded to the intersection of Clarks Branch Road and Northeast Dole Road at 3:45 p.m. Thursday for a vehicle fire. It was suppressed with minimal spread to wildland areas. The fire has been 100 percent contained.

Pope said there continues to be no wildland fire threats to homes or structures throughout the Douglas District.
