The YMCA of Douglas County Board of Directors has announced that it has selected Steven Stanfield as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Stanfield is returning to the area. He served as the organization’s fitness and aquatics director from 2014 to 2017. Stanfield has spent his last five years in central Oregon, where he worked as the recreation director for the Sunriver Owners Association and operations manager at Waldorf School in Bend.
The release said Stanfield is looking forward to a return to a mission-based, community service, a desire that fits perfectly with his new leadership role.
Stanfield said, “I am honored to be back in service at the YMCA of Douglas County”. He said, “The Y is a pillar of the community, and my goals are to continue strengthening the relationships throughout our community, fostering a culture of health and prosperity, and building long-term financial stability”.
Shelley Briggs Loosely, the chief volunteer officer and acting CEO of the YMCA of Douglas County, said the return of Stanfield could not have come at a better time for the non-profit organization. Briggs Loosely said, “There is no one else who can hit the deck running with our Y. We know his work ethic and integrity, qualities you don’t get from references”. She said the board is excited and relieved to know “…our Y will be in great hands moving forward”.
