Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association initiated an aggressive attack on an estimated 3 to 5 acres wildland fire about 7 miles north of Glendale, near Martin Creek Road on Wednesday night.

DFPA Public Information Officer Rachael Pope said the Martin Creek Fire was reported at about 6:00 p.m. Crews include 3 helicopters, 1 fixed wing air attack plane, 4 engines, 1 dozer and a 5-person crew with more on order. Pope said helicopter bucket drops are making sufficient progress knocking the fire down.

At last check, the fire is not a threat to structures or homes. It is located on private timberland. Updates are expected when more information becomes available.
