WINDIGO-POTTER-BIG SWAMP FIRE UPDATE

August 19, 2022 10:20 a.m.

The Windigo Fire is now 95 percent contained, remaining at 1,007 acres.

An update from the Northwest Incident Management Team 10 said fire activity has remained minimal. Resource advisors, firefighters, and heavy equipment operators continue to complete fire suppression repair.

On the Potter Fire, activity was also minimal which provided firefighters with good conditions for mop up and completing the remainder of a hand constructed fire line from Forest Road 179 to 269. On the south and west flanks, firefighters are clearing vegetation away from Forest roads 2154 and 2134 for contingency fire lines and are patrolling along Forest roads 2136 and 267. The fire is 597 acres and now 25 percent contained.

The Big Swamp Fire remains at 121 acres and is now 20 percent contained. Installation of a sprinkler system to connect an existing dozer line to the Middle Fork of the Willamette River near Forest Road 2153 was completed. It will increase moisture on this steep fire line and deter active fire from crossing. Mop up operations continue on the south and western portions of the fire.
