A Heat Advisory continues for central Douglas County and much of western Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures of 90 to 100 degrees are expected. Overnight lows will remain warmer than usual, between 60 and 65 degrees. Hot temperatures may cause heat related illnesses to occur.

Forecasters said residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Children and pets should not be left unattended in vehicles. This is especially true in hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

An Urgent Weather Message from the NWS, said people should take extra precautions when working or spending time outside. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.

An Excessive Heat Warning is in place for the eastern Douglas County foothills and the south-central Oregon Cascades along with much of the Rogue Valley.
