Troopers with Oregon State Police responded to a sedan versus a bear collision early Wednesday morning.

An OSP report said just after 1:50 a.m. the accident was called in, in the southbound lanes of Interstate Five just north of Canyonville. A sedan collided with a bear that was attempting to cross the roadway. The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage, but the driver was able to pull onto the right-hand shoulder before the engine died. The bear was dispatched at the scene by deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
