A new exhibit featuring rurally-based artists opens Friday at the Umpqua Valley Arts Association.

The special exhibit – titled “RURAL” – will feature artwork that sheds a light on the urban and rural differences. Each piece was hand selected by UVA’s guest jurors, Tiffany Hokanson and Bob Keefer.

UVA’s youth gallery also has a special exhibit titled “FREEDOM”, highlighting work from artists around the county that examines the boundless ingenuity found in creative freedom.

UVA is hosting a free open house event Friday to showcase the new exhibit. The event will run from 4-7 p.m. and features small bites and sips, live music and remarks by the curators.

The RURAL and FREEDOM exhibits will be at UVA through August 19. UVA is currently operating Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
