PEDESTRIAN DIES IN HIT AND RUN CRASH

A pedestrian died in a hit and run crash on Interstate Five early Friday morning.

A report from Oregon State Police said at approximately 3:00 a.m. emergency personnel responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian incident about two miles south of Canyonville. A preliminary investigation revealed that a southbound vehicle struck 45-year old Jeremy Blondell of Wolf Creek, as he was walking down the freeway.

Blondell sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The report said the operator of the vehicle did not stop and the case is being investigated as a hit and run. Investigators believe it to be a commercial motor vehicle or a large recreational vehicle, due to roadway evidence. OSP investigators are seeking public assistance in locating the vehicle.
