CITY COUNCIL MEETING SYNOPSIS

April 27, 2022 3:40 a.m.

The Roseburg City Council met on Monday night and staff has provided a synopsis.

Six citizens provided comments regarding issues of those who are unhoused. One suggested legalized camping on private and public reserve properties while another discussed the difficulty of living in tents outdoors in the elements and felt it was criminal to move them during the worst weather conditions. Another commenter asked that the council consider multiple areas for portable toilets and hand washing stations. Two people asked that the sweeps or cleanups at homeless camps be stopped while another applauded park and riverbank cleanup, but suggested the implementation of an approved camp similar to the one in Sutherlin.

All department items on the agenda were approved. Council President Bob Cotterell issued a number of proclamations.

The meeting concluded just before 8:40 p.m.
