A Glide man was jailed following a pursuit on Wednesday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at about 10:30 a.m. a deputy received information that Michael Cox, who had warrants, was driving in the area, and eventually spotted him in the 2400 block of Northeast Stephens Street. The deputy followed the man’s vehicle and tried to initiate a traffic stop on Northwest Aviation Drive.

The vehicle drove away at a high rate of speed down Aviation to General Avenue. It continued at a high rate of speed to Hooker Road then onto Stephens. Due to construction, the pursuit was terminated but briefly picked up again between Promise Avenue and Northwest Edenbower Boulevard before being terminated a second time.

The deputy received a report from a Roseburg Police officer that the vehicle had been parking fairly regularly at an address on Lone Rock Road in Glide. The vehicle was located at that location. Additional DCSO units arrived and performed a search. Cox was found under the house. The man was uncooperative and refused to come out. K9 Eros was called out and the suspect quickly surrendered. Cox admitted to the pursuit as well as a previous RPD case and an Oregon State Police pursuit from late March.

A small amount of methamphetamine was allegedly located in his pocket. Charges included a felony count of attempt to elude, reckless driving and for the warrants as well as for the meth violation. Bail was set at $107,100.
