A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect at 5:00 p.m. Sunday for areas above 2,500 feet in central Douglas County.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said four to eight inches of heavy wet snow is expected, with accumulations of up to fifteen inches possible at higher elevations. Winds are forecast to gust up to forty-five miles per hour.

The Advisory area includes south central areas of the county along the Umpqua Divide, including a short portion of Highway 227 near Tiller and Interstate Five including Canyon Creek Pass.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility.

The Advisory will be in place through 11:00 p.m. Monday.
