In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

Umpqua Actors Community Theater’s production of PUFFS is on stage through April 24th.

Executive Director Melody Schwegel said this is not a wizard story about the boy with a scar, or a frizzy haired know-it-all or a red headed tag along.

Schwegel said this is the story about a boy named Wayne, who is from New Mexico. The boy finds out he is a wizard and is whisked off to England to go to a certain school and learn about magic. The PUFFS is an array of musically gifted youths not known for being brave. The play offers a new perspective on a familiar tale of what life looks like for the wizards who were never destined to save the world.

Performances are Fridays and Saturday nights at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. Sunday April 10th is reserved for people who are vaccinated only. Tickets are $15 per person and are available at www.uact-theatre.com

The production is recommended for audiences age 13 and over.
