A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect starting Sunday at midnight for mountain areas in parts of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said wet snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are expected with wind gusts between 30 and 50 miles per hour in exposed areas such as across ridges, peaks and passes.

The Advisory area includes the south-central Oregon Cascades, Siskiyou Mountains and southern Oregon Cascades including Diamond Lake.

Drivers should plan on slippery road conditions. Snow and blowing snow will reduce visibility at times, especially in exposed areas. Gusty winds combined with wet snow could bring down tree branches.

The Advisory will be in place until 12:00 p.m. Monday.
