COVID-19 has claimed 5 more lives, raising the state’s death toll to 7,144, as of Thursday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 320 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 704,152.

OHA said the total number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 108, which is 4 more than on Wednesday. There are 17 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, which is 2 more than on Wednesday.

The new cases include:

*88 in Multnomah County

*44 in Washington County

*38 in Lane County

*32 in Clackamas County

OHA reported that 4,277 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry on Wednesday. Learn more about the COVID-19 vaccine situation in Oregon at: https://covidvaccine.oregon.gov/

OHA said Thursday was the final day for the Healthcare Surge Unified Command team that was mobilized in August of 2021 to support Oregon’s coordinated response to the Delta and Omicron surges affecting hospitals and health systems. The team included staff from OHA and the Oregon Department of Human Services.

The phased demobilization of the team began in February, after data showed dramatic decreases in the number of hospitalizations following the highest number of hospitalizations in January during the Omicron surge. Some team members will serve through June. Operations will now transition from an active emergency response phase to one focused on building resiliency throughout the state’s health care system.
