In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

The League of Women Voters of Umpqua Valley and the Umpqua Community College Performing and Visual Arts are presenting Frontier Family Feud, this Friday and Saturday.

A release said it is being performed in commemoration of the 100-year anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment, giving women the right to vote. The League commissioned the musical in 2020 but it could not be performed in-person until this year. It is based on the relationship between the “mother of equal suffrage” in the northwest, Abigail Scott Duniway, and her brother, Oregonian editor Harvey Scott. The musical was created for live public and school performances to bring both history and music to audiences of all ages.

Friday’s 7:00 p.m. performance will be proceeded by a 5:00 p.m. pre-show panel discussion, looking at voting issues of the past and present, hosted by the League. Saturday’s show will begin at 3:00 p.m.

The musical is being performed at the Whipple Fine Arts Center at Umpqua Community College. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.
