A Winston man was arrested and two people were injured in a single vehicle DUII crash Tuesday afternoon.
Lieutenant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at about 3:45 p.m. dispatchers received information about the wreck in the 12,000 block of Old Highway 99 South in Dillard.
O’Dell said deputies arrived to discover a sedan which had crashed into a ditch. The driver, 25-year old Darrion Allen, showed visible signs of impairment at the scene. Allen told deputies that he had swerved to miss a dog in the road.
Two children, ages two and four, were in the vehicle. Both were transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for evaluation. One was admitted due to their injuries, while the other was later released.
O’Dell said deputies applied for a search warrant to collect evidence from Allen’s person. He was later jailed for third-degree assault-felony, fourth-degree assault, reckless driving, two counts of reckless endangering and for driving under the influence of alcohol.
O’Dell said the case remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the crash is asked to call DCSO at 440-4471.
