FLY FISHING VETERANS HOLDING SATURDAY FUNDRAISER

March 18, 2022 4:00 a.m.

Fly Fishing Veterans are holding a fundraiser on Saturday to give the community an opportunity to learn more about the non-profit organization, and to celebrate the art of fly tying.

The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Winston Community Center.

Director Doug Myers said over 30 fly tiers from as far south as Yreka, California to as far north as the Seattle, Washington area will demonstrate their skills throughout the day. Myers said several are known nationally for their skills and craftsmanship. All fly tiers will be donating the fly’s they tie to the local group. Myers said this will help give them an inventory for those they serve at fishing outings and events. An opportunity to win prizes plus a silent auction will also take place.

A casting demonstration will take place outside the building for the public to participate in as well.

Myers said admission is the donation of a non-perishable food item that will be donated to a local pantry. Boy scouts will be cooking burgers and hot dogs to help them raise funds for their trips.
