Roseburg Police cited a transient for littering near a waterway on Wednesday.

The RPD report said at 10:00 a.m. officers contacted the 60-year old woman at her motorhome on Stewart Park Drive in Stewart Park. The report said the vehicle was parked about 60 feet from the bank of the South Umpqua River. Both valves were allegedly actively leaking liquid sewage and been so since the prior day.

The amount of sewage leaking had increased to a steady flow of about 1 gallon per hour. The sewage leached into the ground and saturated it all the way to the front of the motorhome, which was about 30 feet, as well as all the ground underneath the vehicle.

The report said the suspect knew the sewage was leaking previously and had placed a small bucket under the motorhome to catch the dripping sewage. The increase of flow overfilled the bucket.

The transient was instructed to repair the leak and remove her motorhome from the park. The City Parks Department placed absorbent all around the vehicle to soak up the liquids on top of the ground and to draw them out from the gravel.

The woman was released after the citation was issued.
