The Roseburg High School Foundation has named the finalists for the Future First Citizen Award.

Foundation President Brian Prawitz said 5 RHS seniors will share $26,000 in scholarship money, with the winner earning $10,000 toward tuition at the college of their choice. Prawitz said the 4 remaining finalists will each receive $4,000 scholarships towards their college choice.

A release said the award recognizes 5 top seniors as future leaders, volunteers, supporters and role models who will make a difference in their community.

The finalists are Eliza Eckman, Charles Anderson, Eva McMillian, Aiyana Brown and Marin Gray. Prawitz said the finalists will be interviewed by a community panel made up of the RHS Foundation, a past Future First Citizen, and local business leaders who donated to the scholarship fund.

The winner will be announced in front of a live audience at the Roseburg High School Foundation Scholarship Night Tuesday night March 29th at 5:30 p.m.  It will be held at the RHS Student Center and at the Rose Theater.

The Future First Citizen recognition and scholarship award was initiated for RHS seniors approximately 20 years ago. It was originally designed and financially supported by a combination of local businesses and individuals, many of whom are supporting the return of the award with a 3-year commitment. In 2019, the RHS Foundation board welcomed the addition of this valued recognition and its oversight.
