DEADLINE LOOMS FOR PRIMARY CANDIDATES TO FILE

The deadline is looming for candidates to file in the May Primary Election in Oregon.

Douglas County Clerk Daniel Loomis said locally candidates must file by Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Loomis said those who have already filed have until Thursday to withdraw their candidacy.

All 3 County Commissioners are running for re-election. Tom Kress, in Position 1, is being challenged by Marcus Black and Diana Fletcher. Tim Freeman has Valynn Currie and Brandy Stone also running for the Position 2 seat. Chris Boice has the most challengers. Ashley Hicks, Mike Ruehle, Dave Bohn and recent filer Bev Ashton are all seeking Position 3.

35 people are running to be Governor of Oregon, with incumbent Kate Brown term-limited from running again.

With 4th District Congressman Peter DeFazio retiring at the end of the year, 8 Democrats are hoping to be nominated by their party. Republican Alek Skarlatos is the lone GOP challenger.
