A transient was jailed following an alleged weapon and menacing incident on Friday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at about 7:40 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 1,000 block of Stearns Lane in the Oakland area. The suspect had allegedly pointed a rifle at a bystander. That man was able to get the suspect to give him the rifle. The transient claimed he was protecting himself and another person he was with.
The suspect was identified as 50-year old Stephen Jarrard. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, for menacing and 2nd degree disorderly conduct. Jarrard was jailed on $58,750 bail.
