Parking changes are beginning in downtown Roseburg.
A City of Roseburg release said a new parking services company is beginning community outreach this week.
Drivers will begin seeing new signs for free but limited-time parking on streets in the downtown core – including Jackson Street, Main Street and several cross streets.
The release said while free on-street customer parking spots remain open, most spaces downtown will be limited to two or three hours between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. Signs are being installed over the next two weeks. In addition, metered parking will remain on outlying downtown streets, according to Community Development Department Director Stuart Cowie.
ACE Parking of San Diego has begun collaborating with City officials after winning a parking enforcement contract for downtown and the Laurelwood neighborhood last month. ACE employees are doing community outreach and will be issuing warning notices for the first half of this month, before active ticketing begins near the end of the month.
Residents and visitors who need to be downtown longer than two or three hours may be able to park for free on Level 1 of the downtown parking structure at the corner of Southeast Washington Avenue and Southeast Rose Street. The Roseburg Public Works Department cleaned the garage last week. In addition, a free parking lot with 52 stalls is available at the intersection of Southeast Cass Avenue and Southeast Rose Street.
ACE is now issuing all monthly parking permits for on-street residential in the Laurelwood neighborhood and the downtown surface lots and levels 2 and 3 in the parking structure.
