MAN JAILED AFTER ALLEGEDLY STEALING VEHICLE

A Roseburg man was jailed after allegedly stealing a vehicle Tuesday morning.

A report from Roseburg Police said at about 5:15 a.m. a victim reported that someone had just stolen her vehicle in the 500 block of Northeast Winchester, and left headed northbound. The report said it was determined that 22-year old Joshua Gunter had unlawfully entered the victim’s residence through the back door, stole her car keys, and a Bluetooth speaker. The victim’s bank alerted her that the suspect was attempting to use her debit card at a gas station on Northeast Stephens a short time later.

The report said the vehicle was located in Winchester and Gunter was taken into custody after a short pursuit. Gunter was charged with first degree counts of burglary and theft, unlawful use of a vehicle, computer crimes, attempting to elude, and for failure to report as a sex offender. Bail was set at $501,250.

The vehicle was returned to the owner.
