October 6, 2026 3:40 a.m.

The Umpqua National Forest has terminated the closure order that was put in place due to the Castle Fire in the Tiller Ranger District.

A UNF release said within the fire footprint, roadwork has been completed along control lines and with the removal of heavy equipment, it is safe to reopen the area. The termination of closure order means that Lakes, Fish Lake, and Beaver Swamp Trailheads have reopened.

After an emergency fire closure is lifted, forest officials urge visitors to remain vigilant regarding the hazards posed in recently burned areas. Risks in burned areas include falling trees and limbs, uneven/unstable ground full of holes to from burned root systems, falling rocks, difficulty navigating through sections of trails and more.
