Douglas County has passed the 50 percent mark for residents age 16 and older being vaccinated for COVID-19, according to information from the Douglas County COVID-19 Response Team.

DCCRT’s release said that as of Wednesday, 47,647 residents or 50.3 percent have been vaccinated with their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. That rate is higher than what has been in a report from the Oregon Health Authority. DCCRT said that is because OHA numbers do not include the vaccinations given by Federally recognized sites in the county.

Those sites are the Roseburg VA Health Care Center and the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe vaccinations locations. The organizations report their vaccination numbers directly to the federal government and not to state or local entities.

The update said OHA has indicated they have yet to find a good way to way to combine the state and federal vaccination data in their weekly reports. OHA has agreed to correct the issue and is allowing Douglas County to count the federal vaccination doses in the count for Oregon’s mandated risk level framework numbers.

DCCRT’s update said the state’s number for those vaccinated is 35,799. Add to that the 8,814 people have been vaccinated for COVID-19 by the Roseburg VA Health Care Center and 3,034 people that have received theirs from the Cow Creek Umpqua Tribe, to get to the total number of vaccinated.
