A man was hospitalized after a freeway crash on Thursday.

An Oregon State Police report said just before 11:45 a.m. a southbound driver on Interstate Five apparently blacked out near Canyon Creek and left the roadway. The report said the vehicle struck several trees before going down a forty-yard embankment, finally stopping a few yards from the creek.

The report said the 62-year old driver was conscious and complaining of pain all over. He had stopped three miles earlier because he was not feeling well. When he felt better, he continued southbound until he had that crash.

The driver was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center where he was listed in fair condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.
