The driver was cited, and the passenger was arrested, following a wreck on Thursday.

A report from Roseburg Police said just after 10:00 a.m. 25-year old Elijah Bates was driving south on Edenbower Boulevard from Interstate Five towards Stewart Parkway. The man allegedly sped up and passed another southbound vehicle using the center turn lane. Bates reportedly re-entered the lane, nearly striking the other vehicle and then began to skid sideways, losing control and ultimately crashing.

Bates was cited for reckless driving, driving while suspended, driving uninsured and failure of a previous violator to file. The passenger, a 23-year old transient, was jailed for warrants.
