Troopers with Oregon State Police jailed a man and cited a woman after catching them angling illegally on Thursday morning.
An OSP report said at 10:20 a.m. Fish & Wildlife troopers responded to the 100 block of Southeast Templin Avenue in Roseburg, after a caller said that two people were fishing in the South Umpqua River, which is closed at this time. The pair were contacted while they were angling, and each had no angling license. The man was found to have taken a small mouth bass, given a false name, and had a valid arrest warrant from Douglas County. He was detained without bail. The man was also cited for giving false information to a police officer, no resident angling license, angling on a closed stream and unlawful take of a game fish.
The woman was cited for no resident angling license, and angling on a closed stream.
