HIGHEST STATE DAILY DEATH COUNT FOR COVID-19 ANNOUNCED ON TUESDAY

On Tuesday, the Oregon Health Authority reported the highest daily death count for COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

36 more deaths were announced raising the state’s death toll to 1,080, while 1,341 new confirmed and presumptive cases brought the state case total to 87,082.

OHA Director Patrick Allen said, “The news of three dozen lives lost weighs heavily on all Oregonians”.

The new cases include:

*173 in Washington County

*116 in Marion County

*114 in Clackamas County

*109 in Lane County

*106 in Jackson County

*48 in Linn County

*40 each in Klamath and Umatilla counties

*34 in Deschutes County

*28 in Jefferson County

*27 in Douglas County

*24 in Yamhill County

*21 in Benton County

*16 in Polk County

*13 in Wasco County

*12 in Clatsop County

*11 in Crook County

*10 each in Columbia, Lincoln and Malheur counties

*9 in Union County

*8 each in Coos, Hood River and Tillamook counties

*7 each in Grant and Lake counties

*6 in Curry County

*5 each in Baker and Morrow counties

*3 in Wheeler County

*1 in Harney County

The new deaths ranged in age from 54 to 96. They lived in 13 different counties.

OHA said the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients across Oregon decreased to 553, 12 fewer than on Monday. There are 127 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit beds, 7 more than on Monday.
