The Archie Creek Fire east of Glide is 86 percent contained.
The Southern Area Red Team will transition management of the Archie Creek and Thielsen fires on federal lands to Pacific Northwest Team 12 Type 2 incident management team. Team 12 will shadow the Red Team on Monday and then assume command of the fires on Tuesday. An incident command post is being set up in Glide as the current command post moves out of the Douglas County Fairgrounds. A Douglas Forest Protective Association local Type 3 incident management team continues to mop up and patrol fire lines on private lands.
Fire behavior has been minimal as smoldering in stumps, dead trees and logs continues. Creeping fire may occur in areas where trees have dropped their needles or leaves, but no perimeter growth is expected. Firefighters are continuing to mop up in some areas, especially where there are indirect fire lines, and containment lines set back from the fire’s edge where burnable vegetation is between the fire and containment line. Firefighters are continuing to transition mostly to patrol. As work is completed, firefighters and equipment are being released from the fire.
605 people are assigned to the fire.
The Thielsen Fire near Diamond Lake is now 71 percent contained. 192 people are working on that fire.
