Expanded health services are now available for students and educators in the Winston Dillard School District.
A release said Evergreen Family Medicine has a telehealth pilot program that is underway.
Medical Services are being made available in part due to a $100,000 grant Evergreen received from Umpqua Health Alliance. It was used to fund medical personnel, along with a mobile medical kit, analytics and reporting software and a video-conferencing wall unit which is stationed at the Boys and Girls Club of the Umpqua Valley.
The release said before a student receives care, a consent form must be completed each year by a parent or guardian, which includes an opt-out option. Services are made available to all students regardless of their medical insurance. For insured patients, copayments will be waived and the insurance companies will be billed.
The onsite school services involve a medical assistant who performs exams such as primary care visits, sports physicals and behavioral health checks. Vaccinations and basic lab testing are also available.
Telehealth services provide real-time and secure teleconferencing while students or educators are at school. Parents and guardians of students can be present at either the onsite or telehealth exams.
