Roseburg received its first significant rainfall since June, beginning on Thursday night.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 1240 KQEN, that .25 of an inch of rain fell between 10:00 p.m. Thursday night and 3:00 a.m. Friday morning. The last time that happened was in the overnight hours of June 15th and June 16th.That means the area went 95 straight days without what forecasters call “significant” precipitation. Roseburg did get .02 of an inch of rain June 28th and again on August 6th. A trace of rain fell on July 6th.
Since the moisture began, there has been some lightening. Douglas County has had 46 lightening strikes as of 3:00 a.m. Friday. Forecasters told KQEN that those were spread out but remained within the center of the county along the Interstate Five corridor.
