"ARMED AND DANGEROUS" MAN CAPTURED

A suspect said to be “armed and dangerous” and the subject of a manhunt after fleeing from authorities on Tuesday, was taken into custody on Tuesday night.
A release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly before 9:00 p.m. 32-year old Michael Cordz unsuspectingly flagged down an Oregon State Police Trooper in the 3800 block of Roberts Creek Road. Sergeant Brad O’Dell said the trooper was a game trooper driving an OSP pickup. The trooper recognized the man as Cordz and took him into custody without incident.
Earlier information from Winston Police and from DCSO said the man was wanted in connection with the burglary of his ex-girlfriend’s residence. Authorities said Cordz had been making threats towards the woman.
Just before 11:00 a.m. Tuesday deputies were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 5500 block of Roberts Creek Road. Deputies, along with Winston officers responded to the area and determined that the vehicle belonged to Cordz. The man was in the vehicle and fled from police on foot. Several loaded firearms were located in the vehicle, according to authorities.

Deputies activated a reverse 911 system to notify area residents who were told to “shelter in place” and report any suspicious activity.
Despite an exhaustive search by multiple law enforcement officers the man was not found Tuesday afternoon. A section of Roberts Creek Road was closed during the search.
Authorities were also looking for Cordz on Monday night after he was reported to be in a house on Quail Court in Winston and was said to be armed and dangerous. DCSO’s Tactical Response Team searched for the man inside the home but did not locate him then.
Cordz is charged with first degree counts of burglary, theft and criminal mischief. He was initially detained on $350,000 bail.
