Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association and rural fire departments dealt with a fire in the Glendale area which was reported late Wednesday afternoon.
A DFPA release said shortly before 5:00 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to an estimated 2-acre vegetation fire near the 400 block of Reuben Road. Ground and aerial resources made good progress on both flanks of the Mt. Reuben Fire. By 5:30 p.m. DFPA’s dozer was working to create a trail around the fire, and the DFPA helicopter was released. All forward spread of the fire was knocked won by 6:00 p.m. with an estimated 40 percent of the fire dozer trailed. By 7:00 p.m. due to the significant progress that had been made, the fire was turned over to the Glendale Rural Fire District. DFPA remained on scene to assist as needed.
