In conjunction with the Douglas Forest Protective Association, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Level 1 “Be Ready” evacuation notice for the Mile Post 97 Fire south of Canyonville.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell said the notice is for residents in the 100 to 300 block of Ritchie Road only. O’Dell said the road is south of Canyonville and the notice appears to be for only 4 homes at this point.
Level 1 or “Be Ready” means:
*Be ready for the potential to evacuate
*Have a “go kit” ready
*Have an evacuation plan for family and pets
*Be Firewise and create a defensible space.
O’Dell said DCSO encourages all county residents to be in a level of preparedness at all times. Residents should have discussions with their families, plan for emergencies and have a kit of emergency supplies. For more information about emergency preparedness go to www.dcso.com.
