A motorcycle being pursued by a deputy with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office allegedly topped 120 miles per hour in a chase Friday afternoon.
Information from DCSO said the motorcycle was southbound on Highway 99N approaching Sparks Avenue in the Wilbur area at about 3:40 p.m. and was going over 70 miles per hour at that point. When the deputy tried to stop the vehicle, the rider reportedly accelerated to the higher rate of speed for a time. The deputy caught up with the motorcycle near Rogers Road but the rider kept going. After slowing down to around 75 miles-per-hour the rider sped back up to over 80 miles-per-hour but got caught behind a pickup. He was detained in the 1400 block of Wilbur Road.
32-year old Christopher Debiaso of Sutherlin was charged with reckless driving, eluding in a vehicle and for violation of the basic rule. He was booked into jail but was later released.
