A driver was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle late Tuesday afternoon.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:50 p.m. the 85-year-old was driving her farm truck and was approaching her residence in the 12000 block of South Myrtle Driver in the Myrtle Creek area. She attempted to put the truck into 4-wheel drive, which did not work and the vehicle rolled into a gate.
The driver got out of truck and opened the gate, causing the vehicle to continue to roll forward. At some point, the truck struck the woman, causing her to fall and hit her head. She showed no signs of intoxication and was later transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. The truck was virtually undamaged and was parked at the residence.
