OCTOBER 17TH ZOMBIE 5K RUN RAISING FUNDS FOR OPTIMIST CLUB

October 12, 2026 2:50 a.m.

Roseburg Optimist Club’s Zombie Run will be held in Stewart Park in Roseburg on Saturday, October 17th.

A club release said this 5K Zombie Run is a fundraising event. 100% of the proceeds go to the Roseburg Optimist Club to support children’s events in Douglas County including “Chalk Art in the Park,” school snack packs, school hygiene kits, and the club’s Safety Day Program for schools.

Runners will endure a 5K Run through a zombie-infested course while they evaluate their speed, endurance, and strength trying to avoid ravenous zombies! Runners will wear flags on one side of their waist like flag football. These flags represent their health. Zombies will try to steal those flags throughout the course. This 5K race is not recommended for children under six. However, parents with strollers or dogs on leashes are welcome.

The release said all participants will receive a free 5K Zombie Run T-shirt, a commemorative finisher medallion and a race bib. Snacks will be provided by Thrive Umpqua. The check-in time is 8:00 a.m. with the race starting at 9:00 a.m.
