Roseburg Police jailed a man twice in 12 hours between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
An RPD report said just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the parking lot of a business in the 700 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard after a caller said the suspect had thrown a large rock into the windshield of a victim’s pickup, causing damage. Witness statements and security footage corroborated the report. When officers arrived, the man, identified as 72-year-old Paul Danford, attempted to punch an officer, but missed. He was placed into custody and transported to corrections. Danford was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, second-degree disorderly conduct and a parole violation. Bail was set at $8,750. He was released later in the evening.
At 6:10 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to CHI Mercy Medical Center after he was called in for refusing to leave the hospital after being discharged. Mercy staff told Danford multiple times over the course of two hours to leave, but he allegedly refused. When officers contacted Danford, he was lying in the middle of the Emergency Room waiting room floor and reportedly refused to get up and leave the property. He was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal trespass. Bail was set at $1,250. Danford was released later on Thursday.
