Due to improving weather conditions and increased overnight moisture recovery, the fire danger level on the Umpqua National Forest has been reduced from ‘very high’ to ‘high’, effective Wednesday.
A UNF release said Public Use Restrictions Stage 2 and Industrial Fire Precaution Level 2 remain in place across the forest.

Stage 2 PURs, including exemptions:
- All campfires, charcoal or briquette fires, pellet fires, and any other open fires are prohibited outside Forest Service-constructed fire rings within designated recreation areas. Campfires fueled by pressurized fuel/propane are allowed.
- Campfires in wilderness are prohibited.
- Cook stoves, lantern or campfire fueled solely by gas, jellied petroleum or pressurized liquid fuel or propane with an on/off switch and flammable vegetation is cleared a minimum of 3-feet away from open flame on all sides are allowed.
- Smoking is prohibited except within an enclosed vehicle, building or area cleared of flammable material at least three feet in diameter.
- Internal Combustion Engine – Chainsaws are prohibited.
- Motorized vehicles may operate only on designated trails and roads. Use of vehicles off National Forest system roads is prohibited except in an area devoid of vegetation within 10 feet of roadway or minimal travel over bare mineral soil to access dispersed camping sites.
- Welding and explosives are prohibited.
