Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged DUII and eluding incident early Sunday morning.
An RPD report said at 1:50 a.m. officers responded to a disturbance at an establishment in the 200 block of Northeast Jackson Street. 38-year-old Thomas Crago was reportedly trying to start fights with patrons and was violating a restraining order. Upon seeing officers arrive, Crago allegedly left the business at a high rate of speed and reportedly nearly ran over an officer and a bystander as he fled.
Officers initiated a pursuit on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard which continued onto Northeast Rifle Range Street before Crago turned onto a dead end on Northeast Spencer Court. The suspect then allegedly exited his vehicle and fled on foot before being detained. Crago reportedly showed indicators of impairment but refused to perform field sobriety tests. A search warrant was obtained, and the man provided a breath sample over the legal limit. Crago was found to have violated an active restraining order by threatening the protected party.
Crago was charged with two counts of recklessly endangering another person, attempting to elude in a vehicle and on foot, reckless driving, driving under the influence of intoxicants and for multiple restraining order violations. Bail was set at $10,000. Crago was released on Monday.
