In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:

On Saturday, September 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Umpqua Valley Arts is hosting a Steamroller Printmaking event free to the community.

A release from UVA said eight professional artists from across the state will be printing large linocut prints with a real steamroller in UVA’s parking lot. The event highlights the art of linocut printmaking and is free for all to attend. Attendees can expect to watch the printing live and in action while enjoying demos and printmaking activities for all ages.

UVA Exhibitions Coordinator Ashley Cluver said, “This event is brand new to UVA, and we’re hosting it as a way to support the artists in their professional careers and to provide the community with a chance to learn about and participate in this art form,”

At least one print from the eight artists will be retained for UVA’s Permanent Collection. Prints made by adults and youth during the event also have a chance to be exhibited in two of UVA’s galleries. All works will be presented in UVA’s first exhibits of 2027 with an opening reception from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on January 8th, 2027.
