A contractor with the Oregon Department of Transportation will begin a hazard tree removal project soon.
Dan Latham of ODOT said this project will remove hazard trees that are on state right-of-way along the southbound curve at and around milepost 95, in the Canyon Creek area, approximately four miles south of Canyonville. Latham said these trees were damaged in a fire a few years ago.
Project work will start in September, possibly as early as September 1st, and will be scheduled during daylight hours on weekdays. The work will require intermittent rolling slow downs in both directions of the freeway. Latham said this will affect traffic between Azalea and Canyonville. Flaggers will hold traffic at nearby onramps. Most delays will be less than twenty minutes.
