Oregon State University Extension Service welcomes current and prospective hazelnut growers to attend Growing Oregon Hazelnuts on Friday, September 4th.
An Extension release said the workshop will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the OSU Extension Office in Douglas County at 1134 Southeast Douglas Avenue in Roseburg.
Participants will take a practical look at the decisions that shape a productive hazelnut orchard. A field visit comparing soil analyses from two Ennis orchards will connect research with real-world field conditions. Lifelong farmer Howard Sand of Wesley Orchards and OSU Extension Orchard Crops Specialist Nik Wiman will share current hazelnut research and practical production insights. The workshop is designed for people who already manage an orchard as well as those evaluating hazelnuts as a future crop.
The cost is $30 per person, and lunch will be provided. Registration is required by August 28th.
