August 10, 2026 11:45 a.m.

The Castle Fire is at 3,613 acres and 75 percent contained as of midday Monday.

The fire is burning 23 miles northeast of Tiller. 477 personnel are assigned to the incident.

An update from F.D.N.Y Incident Management Team said the gradual cooling trend will be ongoing, though it will remain warm and dry. Fuels remain hot and dry. Day time temperatures will once again cool by a few degrees over Sunday, and minimum humidity will rise by another 2 to 3 percent. This trend will continue through the week with a potential for monsoonal moisture to the east by this weekend.

The Umpqua National Forest expanded closure area remains in effect to protect the public and provide a safe environment for firefighters. All National Forest System lands, roads, and trails are closed to the public within the closure area. This includes about a dozen recreation areas.
