Three people were arrested following a reported burglary on Saturday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 9:15 p.m. a victim could see 3 males on his surveillance system breaking into a building in the 2000 block of Colonial Road in the Melrose area. The victim said the trio had taken guns and ammunition. Just before a deputy arrived, the associated vehicle passed a deputy on Melrose Road and accelerated to a high rate of speed.

Deputies located the vehicle in the parking lot of Melrose Store, and all three people were detained without issue. 4 firearms and 7 ammo boxes full of various types of ammo were located inside the vehicle. A handgun was found near the vehicle. The victim said the total value of the stolen items was approximately $20,000. The victim provided surveillance footage from the incident.

19-year-old Joseph Rivera of Roseburg and 20-year-old Jose Olivares-Aiducin were both charged with first-degree burglary, and five counts of first-degree theft, Rivera was also charged with supplying contraband. Olivares-Aiducin was also charged with driving while suspended. Both were detained without bail. The third person, a 16-year-old male, was taken to Juvenile Detention.

All stolen items were recovered and returned to the owner.
