A Yoncalla man was jailed following a reported assault incident on Thursday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 6:10 p.m. while the victim was walking through a dark alley in the 200 block of Eagle Valley Road, the suspect allegedly snuck up and sucker punched the victim from behind. The suspect allegedly punched the victim a couple of more times before the victim fell to the ground.

The suspect then reportedly stood over the top of the victim, punching him until the victim lost consciousness. The victim lost teeth, had a block eye, possibly a broken nose, and was covered in blood. A deputy attempted to contact the suspect, but he would not come to the door or answer his calls. Issues between the two were over a woman.

Later in the evening, deputies observed the suspect, a 37-year-old, run into a motorhome in the 700 block of Eagle Valley Road. After a while the man came out and taken into custody. He was charged with second-degree counts of assault and theft and was taken into custody. The man was detained without bail.
