A motorcycle rider sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident on Thursday night.

An Oregon State Police report said just after 8:00 p.m. troopers responded to the wreck on Highway 138 near milepost 18, about 6 miles northwest of Sutherlin. The 63-year-old rider lost control of his eastbound motorcycle for unknown reasons, left the roadway to the right, and came to rest at the bottom of an embankment. The operator was transported to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. The motorcycle was recovered by a towing company.
